Official Trailer

Winner of Best Screenplay at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, Monster–on the surface–seems to be a tragic story about a troubled, perhaps even dangerous, pre-teen. Saori, a single mother, is convinced that something is up with her son, Minato. One day, a fight breaks out at school. It looks like a common fight between children, but their claims differ, and it gradually develops into a big deal involving society and the media. Through flashbacks and shifting points of perspective, Monster is a story that surprises to the end. 2023 Vancouver International Film Festival Audience Award.
