Haru and her Mexican husband Luis live happily in Tokyo, where they compete as passionate amateur ballroom dancers. Tragedy strikes when Luis suddenly passes away, plunging Haru into deep isolation and grief. Hoping that music and dance will bring back some happiness, Haru’s sisters convince her to return to the studio. There she meets a new instructor named Fedir who, like her deceased husband, is Latin American and in an open marriage. Featuring a Japanese lead cast alongside prominent Latin American actors, the film’s dialogue moves as smoothly from Japanese to English to Spanish as it does between magical realism and grounded emotional drama.
