This latest Roman Polanski film centers around two sets of upscale New York parents who get together to discuss a schoolyard brawl between their two sons. Right from the get-go there’s trouble. The couples couldn’t be more different.

The behaviour of Nancy and Alan (Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz) and Penelope and Michael (Jody Foster and John C. Reilly) deteriorates as the whiskey flows and their friendly masks slip to reveal the hypocrisy that often lurks behind the façade of middle-class liberalism.
